Who we are
Marissa Harris
Certified Professional Dog Trainer, CCPDT-KA
Founder, Grateful Dawg Training
I’m Marissa Harris, a certified professional dog trainer (CCPDT-KA) and the founder of Grateful Dawg Training. I specialize in helping dogs and their people build strong, trusting relationships using positive, fear-free training methods that are not only effective, but also enjoyable and rewarding for both dogs and the humans who love them.
Over the past seven years, I’ve worked in shelters, training facilities, and clients' homes, addressing everything from puppy basics to more complex behavioral issues like leash reactivity, overstimulation, fear-based aggression, and separation anxiety.
My approach is rooted in empathy and real-world experience. My dog Zuri, a pit bull rescued from my local shelter, has personally taught me the patience, adaptability, and creativity that effective training requires.
Every dog is different—and so is every relationship. My approach is centered on helping you understand your dog’s needs, body language, and behavior patterns so you can build a stronger, more respectful connection. I offer customized solutions that foster trust, confidence, and lasting change.
